Known for its electric atmosphere and diverse musical performances, each night, over 1000 amazing young musicians perform on the iconic Royal Albert Hall stage in ensembles, bands, and choirs large and small. From orchestral classics to traditional folk and roots and from big band jazz to big sound rock and pop.
This year’s Music for Youth Proms features the world premiere of a brand-new piece by composer Aileen Sweeney, with text by poet Iona Lee, inspired by the legendary tale of the Giant’s Causeway. With a 450-strong children's choir, full orchestra, and a troop of dancers, this epic retelling brings myth to music in spectacular style.
Rooted in the powerful and timeless theme of Folklore, this will be a highlight of the event – an unforgettable experience for performers and audiences alike. The piece is commissioned in partnership with BBC, ABRSM and the Royal Albert Hall as part of the BBC Ten Pieces project.
